Term 4 Week 10 - Last Post

We are now in the last week of the 2010 school year, which I find hard to believe. So much has happened and we have learnt lots of new things. We have loved story writing and learning to read and 'do' maths. It is great to look back on the two terms we have been in Room 13 and see the progress we have made. Thank you for your support at home, especially with reading. It does make a difference.

I have loved being with the fantastic children of Room 13. Thank you for sharing them with me.

At the end of October I issued a challenge: the family making the most comments on our blog would win a prize. Congratulations to Nico's family who made the most comments. Thank you for taking the time to read our blog and add your comments.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from us all in Room 13. May you have a safe and happy holiday.

The Three Trees

WOW! The School Production was amazing! The Kapa Haka group opened the evening with waiata and haka. Then the Middle and Senior Syndicates treated us to 'Messages from Broadway' before the Junior Syndicate presented their show. I am very proud of the Room 13 children - they were amazing as the picnickers and their ad libbing was superb. Thank you for your support over the last few weeks and for watching us last night.
Here's some of our recounts about the production:

On Tuesday I went to the picnickers' production. I was happy because my Mum and Grandfather and sister were there. Room 13 is very, very good. The picnic is fun. I saw the teacher in the production.
Then I went to the house and I went to sleep.

Last night Christ the King School did a production. Room 13 were picnickers. The production was called The Three Trees. We watched the seniors do their production. Then we did our production.

On Tuesday Room 13 did a performance with the Juniors. We were the picnickers with my sister. My sister was Pirate Jack. I liked my sister's speech.

Last night I went to Burnside High School. I did a production. I was a picnicker. Josie was my mum. Then I watched Kapa Haka. When theproduction was finished I went to Mum and Dad.

Last night I went to the production. We were the picnickers. The Senior Production went first then it was us. But we weren't the first ones on the stage. It was called The Three Trees. The three trees were Lily, Elora, and Alex.

Last night my friends in my class, but not me, performed on stage. I didn't go on because I was sick. I took two days off school. I was jealous because Luke went on stage.

Term 4 Week 8

This week has been busy with production practices every day. On Thursday we had a dress rehearsal. The children looked fantastic in their costumes and their performance went up a notch. Tuesday night's performance is going to be fantastic. Remember to get your tickets from the school office.
There have been a number of disruptions for us and I am very proud of the way Room 13 children have conducted themselves.

We have been learning about nouns and adjectives. Last week we used these to write Colour Poems. We  trust you will enjoy reading them. Maybe you'd like to make a comment on them as well.

Term 4 Week 8 Certificates

Today we had a liturgy for the Pike River Miners and their families. We lit 29 candles to remind us of the 29 men who died. May their families know God's love, comfort, strength, and peace in their lives.

At assembly today Matthew and David received certificates recognizing their patience and participation in our production practices.
Congratulations, Matthew and David, you have been good role models and we are proud of you.

We are beginning to count down to the end of the school year. We have only three more weeks as Year 1s! This coming week will be busy with more practices for our production. Please remember to bring your named costumes to school on Monday.
