What a fantastic day for the school fair. It was great to see so many of you there. The high light for me was seeing four Room 13 children busking. Bailey, Flynn, Gemma, and Molly sang a Taylor Swift song and they were AWESOME. I am really proud of them for standing up on the stage in front of so many people. Bailey, Flynn, Gemma, and Molly you are all stars!

Term 4 Week 3 'Star of the Week' and News
This week has been busy and we have all worked hard.
We have finished our 'All About Arthur' poems and the collaged letters to illustrate them. Come into the classroom to see them. We also have our '10 Little Rubber Ducks' pictures on the wall. Next week we will be working in groups to collage a character from an Eric Carle book.

This week our 'Star of the Week' is Molly.
Molly has been focused on her learning and is a great role model in class.
Thank you, Molly, it's great to have you in Room 13.
On Fridays we read with our buddy class - Room 8. Both rooms look forward to this each week. The Room 13 children read a book from their browsing box, then the Room 8 children read a library book. Sometimes our big buddies help us with our work as well. Thanks, Room 8, we love spending time with you.
The new News Day rota is working well. The children are developing oral language skills as they talk about their show and tell items.
Fair Day is nearly here. Our room is full of 'white elephant' items. I am looking forward to browsing through and maybe picking up a bargain or two. A highlight will be the busking. Look out for the Room 13 quartet!
We have not had many comments on our blog lately. We do love reading your comments, so to encourage you to write I am offering a prize to the family who makes the most comments over the next 3 weeks.

Term 4 Week 2 'Star of the Week'
Everyone in Room 13 is working very hard and they are making it challenging for me to pick the 'Star of the Week'
However this week the person who has consistently shown on task behaviour, is polite and helpful, and focuses on his work is Flynn.
Congratulations, Flynn, on being the 'Star of the Week'.
It's great to have you as a member of Room 13. Thank you.

Collage Art Work
We have been creating art work using the same technique as Eric Carle - collage.
Today we finished our 'Flowers in a Vase'.
To create these masterpieces we first painted a vase using water colours. Then we cut flowers and stems out of magazines. When the vase was dry we cut it out. Then we glued the vase, stems, and flowers onto a skinny piece of paper. The last thing we did was draw a black spot in the middle of each flower.
The completed work looks fantastic and we are all proud of what we have done.
Check out the photos, or come into Room 13, to see our fantastic work.

Term 4 Week 1 Star of the Week
The first 'Star of the Week' for Term 4 is Emily.
Emily came back to school with a fantastic attitude. She has worked hard on all her work and been a great role model. Emily has also been a kind, helpful, and considerate class mate.
Thanks, Emily, we are blest to have you in Room 13.
The first week of Term 4 has flown by. We welcomed Steven to our room. Everyone has been very welcoming and helpful to Steven. He has settled in well and is enjoying being with us.
Everyone has settled back into the class routines and we have all been working hard in class. You can read our recounts of our holidays in the two postings below. Remember to add a comment after you've read them.
Our topic for this term is: Eric Carle - author and illustrator. We will be retelling some of Eric Carle's stories and creating our own art works using the same style as Eric - collage.
In PE we are learning to throw and catch a small ball.
There are many other things to keep us busy - remember the school fair in 16 more days. We will be going swimming later in the term - a notice will be sent home nearer the time. I am really looking forward to the production and our preparation for this is already underway.

Our Recounts of Our Holidays
In the holidays my tooth fell out but it did not fall out on its own because my Mum knocked it out. Then Mum had to pull it out of my mouth because it was out in my mouth. It hurt a bit. After Mum got my tooth out she put it in a pink cup and left it on the windowsill.
Then we went to see some of Mum's friends but first we went to some shops.
There was an Angelina Ballerina show. After we went to the show we went to McDonlads for lunch with my Mum's friend and my brother. I had an ice-cream with my brother. I loved the ice-cream because it had a chocolate stick on the top but Xavier only had ice-cream.
